Dear Friends, I wanted so share some thoughts on the six songs which we remixed for new EPReimagined, which is out today!
• “Easy For You” (from Diamond & Glass, 2002). When a couple breaks up, there’s almost always one of the people who has an easier time of it. This song is written from the viewpoint of the person having the harder time. We chose it for the remix because we love the song and the track is very special. It was a delight to work on again. My video, “Halfway to Jesus,” has been nominated in two categories of the California Music Video Awards at Music California – BEST EYE (Cinematography) and BEST BLUES/COUNTRY. A shout out to my director, Trevor Lawrence, who works magic when he picks up a camera, still or moving pictures (and he’s a GREAT writer as well). Thank you, Trevor, for the three videos we’ve done together.
My latest CD, BETTER PART OF ME, is on David McGee’s “The Deep Roots Elite Half Hundred of 2018, Pt 1.” David chooses 50 CDs released during the year and features them at DEEP ROOTS MAGAZINE. Continue reading →
DULCIE TAYLOR/Halfway To Jesus Writers: Taylor; Producer: George Nauful; Publishers: Raven in the Window, ASCAP; Black Iris (track) – This is a dramatic, minor-key, cautionary ode about the damages we have inflicted on our natural world and of the cataclysmic climate that results. Swirling and compelling.
Dulcie Takes Best Songwriter at the 2014 New Times Awards Dulcie Taylor won the New Times Music Award for Best Songwriter 2014. She took home the same award last year, 2013. Here is a picture of the two “Newties” as they are called, side-by-side. The “Newtie” is 10 pounds of solid bronze in the shape of a microphone and is made of metal reclaimed from decommissioned weapon systems.
When renowned Broadway composer Stephen Schwartz (his shows include Godspell, Pippin, and Wicked) was interviewed on The Atrium Stage at the Kennedy Center by Michael Kerker of ASCAP, he entertained and thrilled the sold-out crowd with his stories and his songs. Then Mr. Schwartz introduced songwriters from the Mid-Atlantic region who each performed an original song. Dulcie performed her song, Diamond & Glass.
